Carrier IoT

February 10, 2015

Light Reading’s inaugural Carrier IoT: Making Money From Machines event takes place on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Internet of Things is one of the key growth areas for both mobile, fixed-line and cable operators over the next decade, and this event will examine the strategies for success in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.

Although some operators are already starting to derive revenue from the M2M sector, the idea of networking sensors in cars, homes, enterprises and even smart city infrastructure is still very much in its infancy. This event will examine everything from the present and future networking technology required, to M2M security and the evolution of standards around the industry.

This event will:

  • Examine lessons learnt from 2G 3G and LTE deployment in M2M communications.
  • Consider new and alternative methodologies for carrier-supported low-power M2M deployments
  • Explore the carrier role in developing and deploying standards for the Internet of Things.
  • Share Heavy Reading’s perspective on the evolving IoT landscape and its challenges for service providers.
  • Probe how carriers can best partner with car makers and other M2M vendors to network myriad devices.
  • Delve into the carrier role in IoT application creation and service enablement.
  • Consider the current state of play of IoT and how leading M2M carriers such as AT&T, Verizon and Vodafone are evolving their strategies.
