Allied Fiber Selects Colo Atl to Support Network, Colocation Requirements for New Southeast Route

Companies align to deliver key data center and interconnection services for growing southeast region

ATLANTA, February 10, 2015Colo Atl, the leading provider of network-neutral colocation, data center and interconnection solutions at 55 Marietta Street in Atlanta, GA, announces today that Allied Fiber, the United States’ first open-access, integrated, network-neutral colocation and dark fiber superstructure, has joined Colo Atl’s growing list of network operators and service providers. The company’s partnership with Colo Atl is part of its fiber build across the Southeast, extending 700 miles from Miami, FL to Atlanta, GA.

In addition to Colo Atl’s strategic location in Downtown Atlanta, complementing the new Southeast Route, Allied Fiber joins long-time partner Colo Atl for its SSAE 16 certified colocation facility and ability to provide N+1 redundancy and access to multiple tier-1 network operators. The Colo Atl facility is also home to the Georgia Technology Center (GTC), a test bed and live production facility for network communications equipment; and the Southeast Network Access Point (SNAP). SNAP provides next-generation Internet Exchange (IX) solutions, including SDN peering, testing and implementation.

“Colo Atl offers us a number of critical amenities, including convenient and affordable interconnection options via a first-class carrier-neutral colocation facility in downtown Atlanta,” comments Hunter Newby, CEO of Allied Fiber. “Additionally, the collaboration opportunities and innovative spirit of the GTC and SNAP align perfectly with our march to become the first national, open-access, integrated network-neutral colocation and dark fiber superstructure in the United States. The arrangement is integral to the Jacksonville to Atlanta segment of our Southeast Route.”

Allied Fiber’s unique business model and network design was created to specifically facilitate open-access interconnection. The three primary components of the model are new, high-count dark fiber cables, handholes for lateral splicing and fully integrated, network-neutral colocation facilities, such as Colo Atl’s.

“We’re happy to have Allied Fiber join our increasing roster of network operators and service providers,” states Tim Kiser, Owner and Founder of Colo Atl. “The facility has greatly expanded in the last year. Our growth is directly attributable to folks like Allied Fiber and their desire to make a meaningful difference on how communications gets done.”

Established in November 2001, the Colo Atl colocation and Meet Me Area (MMA) facility is located across the 5th and 8th floors of 55 Marietta Street in Downtown Atlanta. Colo Atl is a reasonable, accommodating and cost-effective interconnection environment for more than 80 local, regional and global network operators.
